Confession

Through the priest´s absolution, Christ offer us His mercy, healing and the grace to begin anew.

The Sacrament of Confession, also called Reconciliation, is the sacrament through which we return to God with a repentant heart, confess our sins, receive His forgiveness, and are restored to communion with Him and the Church. Through the priest’s absolution, Christ offers us His mercy, healing, and the grace to begin anew.

Before Confession, prayerfully ask yourself:

My relationship with God

Have I neglected prayer, Sunday Mass, the Sacraments, or my relationship with God? Have I misused His name or placed other things before Him?

My relationship with others

Have I been unloving, disrespectful, dishonest, judgmental, unforgiving, or deliberately hurtful toward others?

My words and actions

Have I lied, gossiped, slandered, cheated, stolen, or caused harm through my words or actions?

My duties and responsibilities

Have I been careless, selfish, or dishonest in my responsibilities at home, at work, in school, or in the Church?

My thoughts and desires

Have I deliberately entertained sinful thoughts or desires, jealousy, hatred, impurity, or greed?

My use of God’s gifts

Have I misused my time, money, talents, body, or other gifts entrusted to me by God?

My response to sin

Have I misused my time, money, talents, body, or other gifts entrusted to me by God?

Prayer Before Confession

“Lord, give me the grace to see my sins honestly, to be truly sorry for them, to confess them humbly, and to trust in Your mercy. Help me to turn away from sin and to live more faithfully according to Your will. Amen.”
