Capellanía Filipina Tahanan Madrid Celebrates World Mission Sunday (DOMUND) with a Call to Mission and Solidarity
The Capellanía Filipina Tahanan Madrid joyfully celebrated World Mission Sunday (DOMUND) on October 18, 2026, with two Holy Masses at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., bringing together the Filipino Catholic community in prayer, faith, and solidarity.

The 3:30 p.m. Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gerry Paat, SVD, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Mark del Rosario, SSS, and Rev. Fr. Fabian Kalaluka, SVD, SVD General Councilor and Visitator. The celebration provided an opportunity for the faithful to reflect on the Church’s missionary calling and to remember the men and women who dedicate their lives to proclaiming the Gospel and serving communities in different parts of the world.

Continuing in the spirit of prayer and missionary solidarity, the community gathered for the second Eucharistic celebration at 5:30 p.m. The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Fabian Kalaluka, SVD, and concelebrated by five other Filipino religious missionaries: Rev. Fr. Gerry Paat, SVD; Rev. Fr. Ronie Pinca, SVD; Rev. Fr. Omar Delgado, SVD; Rev. Fr. Nico Lariosa, SJ; and Rev. Fr. Albert Pellazar, OAR. This second celebration brought together another assembly of the faithful for this special occasion dedicated to the universal mission of the Church.

One of the most cherished traditions of the Capellanía during World Mission Sunday celebration is the participation of churchgoers wearing the national costumes of the countries for which they wish to pray. Through this colorful expression of faith and solidarity, the community bears visible witness to the universality of the Church and its concern for peoples of every nation and culture.

The diverse costumes worn by the faithful symbolize the community’s desire to embrace the richness of the world’s cultures while remaining united in one faith. Each country represented becomes a special intention in prayer, reminding everyone that missionary work is a responsibility shared by all the baptized. This tradition also highlights the importance of praying for missionaries, supporting their work, and remembering the communities they accompany, especially those most in need of hope and spiritual guidance.

World Mission Sunday (DOMUND) reminds the faithful that every baptized Christian is called to participate in the Church’s mission through prayer, generosity, and simple acts of service. For Capellanía Filipina Tahanan Madrid, this annual celebration renews its commitment to a Church that reaches out to all peoples, embraces every culture, and shares Christ’s love beyond the walls of the church.
